Svanberg Sigfússon was born in Eyjafjarðarsýsla in 1880. He died in New Iceland on May 14, 1952.

Svanberg came west with his parents, Sigfús Jónsson and Björg Jónsdóttir, in 1883. Áslaug was the daughter of Einar Markússon and Ingibjörg Ögmundsdóttir in 1887 of N. Múlasýsla. Svanberg took land in the Geysir settlement but did not live there. Rather, he moved to his brother Jóhann’s land, rented it, but together they worked it.
