He came west with Oddný Hannesdóttir and her family in 1876 and settled in New Iceland. He was Oddný’s right-hand man and worked her land in the Geysir Settlement. He lived with Oddný until 1905 and then he moved in with Gestur Oddleifsson and Þórey in the same settlement. He lived with them until his death.
