Sigurður Pálsson was born in W. Skaftafellssýsla in 1895.
His parents were Páll Þórarinsson and Stefanía Sigurðardóttir. Sigurður grew up at Hafnanes and came west with his fathers, Jón Einarsson and Bergur Jónsson, in 1902. He bought land in the Víðir Settlement.
