Árni Bjarni Sveinbjörnsson was born in 1849 in Gullbringusýsla. He was known in America as Dr. Albert Bjornson. He died in a car accident in Grand Junction, Colorado on October 6, 1943.

Árni emigrated west to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1872. Western Icelandic sources list him as Árni-Bjarni Sveinbjörnsson and in the census of the Icelandic National Archives in 1860 he is registered Árnabjarni Sveinbjörnsen. From Milwaukee, his life’s road took him to Washington Island, where he was very active. He lived in Nevada in 1895, moving from there to Vernal, Utah in late 1897. When the Unitah-Ouray Indigenous Special Area was opened for settlement, Arni moved there and lived in Theodore, later called Duchsne, Utah. The family continued to move. They next went to Elisnore, Utah, then Phoenix, Arizona, and finally settled in Grand Junction, Colorado.
