Sigríður emigrated west to Ontario, Canada in 1874. She settled in Kinmount where she met and married her husband. They lived on his land until 1882 when they moved west to N. Dakota. In the N. Dakota census in 1900 Sigríður is listed a widow, living with her was her father, Tómas Kristjánsson.
