Guðný and Sigurbjörn emigrated west in 1874 and spend the first year in Kinmount, Ontario. They moved to Manitoba in 1875 and lived for some time in Winnipeg. Here is where Sigurbjörn died. Guðný was the sister of Skafti and moved with him to the Argyle Settlement where she raised her daughters, all who died before 1900. Guðný then moved in with Skafti and died there.
