Vigdís emigrated west to Ontario, Canada in 1874, while Jón came west in 1875. Together they moved east to Markland, Nova Scotia and bought land, naming it Brúarland. From there, they moved west to the plains to the Argyle Settlement in 1885. They lived there many years before moving to Selkirk where they both died.
