They came west to Kinmount, Ontario in 1874 and moved to New Iceland in the fall of 1875. They moved to Hallson, N. Dakota and lived there until 1905 when they bought land in the Vatnabyggð Settlement in Saskatchewan near Wynyard. In 1911, they moved off the farm and into Wynyard.
