Einar emigrated west in 1875 and first lived in Boston in the United States. From there he went to Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada, where a few Icelanders had visited the year before. He lived there for three years, then moved to Winnipeg in 1878. His family had come to New Iceland, including Arni, his brother. Eyjólfur Kristjánsson, from Breiðavað in S. Múlasýsla, came to Winnipeg the same year with his family. Einar married Sigríður and Arni married Margrét, both Eyjólfur’s daughters. They all moved south to N. Dakota in 1879 and took land in the Carlisle Settlement, east of the village of Cavalier. The brothers lived there until 1895, when Einar sold his farm and moved west in N. Dakota to the Cavalier Settlement, then moved to San Diego, California in 1920.
