They emigrated west in 1878 and travelled on to Markland, Nova Scotia. They lived there a number of years before moving to Winnipeg about 1882. They then moved to the community of Tantallon, Saskatchewan and lived there. Jón moved to the Hnausa Settlement in Manitoba and lived there until his death.
