
Eggert Jóhannsson
Eggert Jóhannsson was born in 1858 in Skagafjarðarsýsla. He died in Vancouver on December 30, 1929.
Spouse: October 1, 1890 Elín Hjörleifsdóttir b. in W. Skaftafellssýsla on January 1, 1865. (She took the name Ellen Pearson in the west before marriage.)
Children: 1. Laurence 2. Ellen 3. Joseph 4. Alexander 5. Ena 6. Lilian.
Eggert emigrated west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1876 with his parents, Jóhann Jóhannsson and Arnfríður Jóhannesdóttir. They settled in New Iceland. Elín emigrated west the same year with her parents, Hjörleifur Björnsson and Ragnhildur Árnadóttir, and likewise settled in New Iceland. Eggert and Elín lived in Winnipeg until 1912 except for a short time spent living in the Árnes Settlement in New Iceland about 1900. They later moved west to Vancouver, British Columbia.
