Helgi Ólafsson was born on November 13, 1858 in W. Skaftafellssýsla. He died on September 30, 1915 in Birch Bay, Washington. He took the last name Olson in the west.

Anna emigrated to Spanish Fork, Utah in 1891. Helgi had emigrated to Utah in 1890. They moved to Blaine, Washington in 1903 and bought land in Birch Bay some time later and lived there. After Helgi died, Anna continued to live there until 1920 when she moved in with her daughter Anna in Blaine.
