Eiríkur Ólafsson was born in Rangárvallasýsla on November 14, 1823. He died in Iceland on October 14, 1900. He was known as Eirikur from Brunum in Utah.
Spouse: 1) Rúnveldur Runólfsdóttir b. May 17, 1823 in W. Skaftafellssýsla, d. 1881 in North Platte, Nebraska. 2) In Iceland: Guðfinna Sæmundsdóttir b. October 2, 1865 in Kjósarsýsla.
Children: 1. Ingveldur b. January 17, 1854, d. March 31, 1930 in Spanish Fork 2. Sveinn b. 1857.
They emigrated west to Utah in 1881, but Rúnveldur fell ill on the way and died in Nebraska. Ingveldur continued to Spanish Fork with his son Þorbjörn Þorvaldsson, but Eirikur stayed behind and took care of his wife’s burial. He reached the end of his journey some time later. He went to Iceland as a missionary a year later, wrote pamphlets on Mormonism, and traveled throughout the country. He returned to Utah in 1883 and lived in Spanish Fork until 1893. He then moved back to Iceland with a stop to see his son, Sveinn, in Independence, Missouri.
