Markús Vigfússon was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on December 25, 1851. He died on December 6, 1921. He took the name Markus Johnson in Utah.
Spouse: October 21, 1882 Guðríður Wúlfsdóttir b. April 26, 1858 in the Westmann Islands (Vestmannaeyjar). She died on December 8, 1933. Her father was Danish and named Woolf and was a Danish ship skipper. She was known as Gudridur W. Johnson and Gudridur Wolfsdottir in Utah.
Children: 1. Margrét Jónína b. November 21, 1879, d. February 26, 1925 2. Sigríður Ingibjörg b. July 21, 1883, d. September 6, 1943 in Idaho 3. Valdimar Einar b. March 23, 1885, d. June 2, 1886 on the way to Utah 4. Christina Mary b. November 20, 1895, d. October 15, 1959.
They emigrated west from Vestmannaeyjar to Spanish Fork, Utah in 1886. Travelling with them was Guðríður’s mother, Valgerður Jónsdóttir.
