Guðný Ingjaldsdóttir

ID: 15830
Date of birth : 1857

Guðný Ingjaldsdóttir was born in 1857.

The book, Icelanders of Utah, in Utah says she had sailed west to Spanish Fork, Utah in 1883, and the 1900 US Census says she was a widow, married in 1887, and had five children.

Her name is the invention of a woman of Icelandic descent who was living in Utah when the census was taken in the United States in 1900. But from there, she disappears shortly afterwards and is not mentioned anywhere else in Utah. More people may have played the same game, something very important forced them to misrepresent themselves, but what?

Here is a picture from the book, Icelanders of Utah. In front are the numbers of individuals and it can be seen that Guðný has the number 179. Behind her name is the date of birth and year, followed by the name of the place of birth or address on the day of departure. Neither was stated in Guðný’s registration, but only the year 1883, but that is the year she is said to have come to Spanish Fork. In the next column is the date of departure from Iceland and in the last column is the date of the baptism.
