Guðrún emigrated west to America in 1857 with her mother, Guðrún Hallsdóttir, and her husband, Loftur Jónsson, and they first lived in St. Louis, Missouri where Loftur was a carpenter. Life’s road led them to Spanish Fork, Utah in 1859. Guðrún lived a long time with Gísli Einarsson and his wife Halldóra Árnadóttir.
