She took the name Margret Bearnson in the west. 2) August 2, 1862 Gertrude Marie Mortensen b. in Denmark on January 26, 1846, d. February 24, 1927. 3) Jóhanna Guðný Helga Sveinsdóttir b. February 9, 1861 in the Westmann Islands (Vestmannaeyjar), d. May 27, 1927 in Cleveland, Utah. They divorced after a short marriage. Note: The Mormon leaders encouraged polygamy.
Children: Samúel had Halldóra b. September 10, 1844 in Vestmannaeyjar with Halldóra Jónsdóttir. Halldóra Samúelsdóttir died on August 22, 1918 in Spanish Fork. With Gertrude: 1. Abraham Samuel b. Samúel and Margrét came west in 1854 and arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 7, 1855. They settled in Spanish Fork. Samúel went on a missionary trip to Iceland in 1875 and was there until 1877.
