Árni Þórarinsson was born December 29, 1857 in S. Múlasýsla. He died on February 11, 1947 in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. He took the name Arni Th. Long in the west.

Spouse: 1897 Sigríður Margrét Bjarnadóttir b. in Ísafjarðarsýsla in 1861. She died in Selkirk, Manitoba.

Children: 1. Richard b. 1897 in Selkirk.

Árni emigrated west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883. He lived there for several years, but moved to Glenboro around the turn of the century and lived there for a long time. They moved from there to Selkirk around 1910, but Árni moved west to the sea and settled in Ósland on the Pacific coast. He lived there until 1927 when he moved to his son’s home in Prince Rupert. It is not clear when Sigríður went west, but it has probably been after 1890. In a Western Icelandic source, her name is written Margret Sigriður Bjarnadottir Julius and it could indicate that she was the daughter of Bjarni Júlíus Halldórsson who in 1870 was a widower in Hofsókn in Ísafjarðarsýsla.
