Guðlaug Björnsdóttir was born in N. Múlasýsla in 1874. She died in Manitoba in 1913.

Þorvaldur and Guðlaug came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1893. With them were Þorvaldar’s foster mother, Guðrún Benediktsdóttir, and her son, Benedikt Kristjánsson. Þorvaldur took land in the Árnes Settlement and lived there until 1906. They moved north to Lake Manitoba and settled at The Narrows. Two year later, they moved to Asham Point by the lake and lived there.
