Sigurður Guðmundsson was born in Gullbringusýsla on August 6, 1879. He took the name Sigurður G. Magnússon in the west.
Spouse: 1) Guðmunda Halldórsdóttir b. 1879 in Mikley, d. 1905 in New Iceland 2) Guðrún Pálína Stefánsdóttir b. September 11r, 1886 in S. Múlasýsla.

Sigurður moved west to Winnipeg in Manitoba with his grandmother, Vigdís Guðmundsdóttir, and her children in 1887. She settled in New Iceland and Sigurður went there as well. He started working for himself at a young age in New Iceland and there he met Guðmunda. She was the daughter of Halldór Jónsson and Guðný Sigmundsdóttir. Guðmunda died of tuberculosis. Guðrún moved west with her parents, Stefán Sigurðsson and Guðný Einarsdóttir, in 1887. Sigurður and Guðrún moved to Keewatin, Ontario in 1910 and lived there all the time.
