Gísli was a farmhand at Veðramót in Skagafjörður, Kristjána’s home, in 1870 and went from there west to Winnipeg with his masters. Among them was Kristjana. Gísli worked in Winnipeg for a few years but moved to Keewatin, Ontario in 1885. Kristjána’s parents lived in Manitoba until 1880, but then moved to Mountain, N. Dakota.
