Ólafur Árnason was born in Skagafjarðarsýsla in 1858. He died in the Brown Settlement in Manitoba in 1917.
Spouse: Ragnheiður Ósk Sigurðardóttir b. 1856 in Skagafjarðarsýsla, d. 1923.

They emigrated west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1887 and went directly south to the Akra Settlement in N. Dakota where Jóhannes, Ólafur’s brother, had taken land. The brothers worked together the next years, but then moved to the Brown Settlement in Manitoba in 1899 and lived there the rest of their lives.
