They came west to America in 1882 and first went to Duluth, Minnesota and lived there two years. Life’s road then took them to the Pembina Settlement in N. Dakota where they lived for almost a year as Arngrímur explored the country. He took land in Garðar and moved there in the spring of 1885. In 1906, the family moved to the Vatnabyggð Settlement in Saskatchewan.
