Guðrún Margrét Guðmundsdóttir was born in N. Múlasýsla on May 24, 1841. She died on May 1, 1908 in the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota.

They came west across the sea in 1876 to Winnipeg, Manitoba. They lived in New Iceland but homesteaded in the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota in 1881. With them was Guðrún’s father, Guðmundur Guðmundsson, b. 1809.
