Þorbjörg came west to New Iceland in 1876 with her parents, Hallgrímmur Guðmundsson and Guðrún M Guðmundsdóttir, and siblings. They moved south to N. Dakota in 1880. Tímóteus came west alone to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1887. From there he moved to the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota and lived there until 1901. He then moved across the border and settled in the Brown Settlement in Manitoba, where he lived until 1907, when he moved to Vatnabyggð (Lakes Settlement) in Saskatchewan. He took land near Elfros.
