They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1878, but later Elína moved and bought land south of Mountain, N. Dakota about 1880. She lived there with Sæmundur until 1918, then moved to Mountain and stayed there for a year. From there they went to live with Jóhannes, Sæmundur’s son, in Hensel.
