Tómas Jóhannsson was born in Eyjafjarðarsýsla on July 22, 1838. He died on September 15, 1915 in Saskatchewan.
Spouse: Guðrún Árnadóttir b. 1846 in Eyjafjarðarsýsla, d. March 5, 1920.
Children: 1. Árni b. August 12, 1866 2. Katrín b. November 5, 1868 3. Jóhann b. October 25, 1869 4. Sigurbjörg b. December 28, 1873 5. Páll b. February 1, 1876 6. Sigurrós b. December 27, 1882 7. Jónas b. August 6, 1884 6. Þórdís b. September 19, 1887. They also had a foster son, Stefán Guðmundur Björnsson.
They came west in 1888 and travelled to N. Dakota. They bought land southern part of the Garðar Settlement and moved there in 1889. They lived there for seven years, sold it, and Tómas built a house near the village Garðar where they lived until the spring of 1889. From there they moved north in 1899 to the Brown Settlement in Manitoba and took land near Morden. They sold the land in 1906, returned to N. Dakota and lived with Jóhann, their son in Edinburg until 1913. They left N. Dakota that year for Elfros, Saskatchewan where Jónas, their son lived. Stayed with him until they passed away.
