Helga Sigríður Jónsdóttir was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on July 3,1859. She died in Markerville, Alberta on December 12, 1940.

Spouse: August 28, 1878 in Shawano County in Wisconsin, Stefán Guðmundsson born in Skagafjarðarsýsla on October 3, 1853. He died in Alberta on August 9, 1927. He changed his name to Stephan G. Stephansson in 1884 after he came west.

Stefán emigrated west to Wisconsin in 1873 and settled in Stoughton in Dane County. He bought land in Shawano County in the fall of 1874 and from there moved west to the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota in 1880. From there, they moved west to Alberta and bought land a short distance from Markerville.
