Aðalbjörg came west in 1883 with her parents, Benedikt Jónsson and Nanna Arngrímsdóttir. Guðbrandur came west across the ocean with his parents and siblings in 1878. They first lived in Lyon County in Minnesota but then settled in the Garðar Settlement in N. Dakota in 1880. He studies medicine in Winnipeg, Dublin, Vienna, and London. He settled in Winnipeg in 1905 and lived there the rest of his life.
