They came west to Minnesota in 1892, and moved a short time later to N. Dakota where Einar’s brother, Guðvaldur, lived. They lived with him for two years, but then took land in the Garðar Settlement. After Hallfríður died, Einar and Guðvaldína moved to Roseau, Minnesota and later to the Vatnabyggð (Lakes Settlement) in Saskatchewan.
