Haraldur Björnsson was born in 1883 in N. Dakota. He died in 1934 in Elfros in the Vatnabyggð (Lakes Settlement) in Saskatchewan.

Haraldur’s parents, Björn Einarsson and Jóhanna Jóhannesdóttir, came west to New Iceland in 1876 and lived there until 1880. Elín came west in 1888 with her parents, Guðvaldur Jónsson and Kristín Þorgrímsdóttir, and her siblings. They settled in N. Dakota and moved east to Roseau, Minnesota in 1899. Haraldur’s parents moved east to Roseau about the turn of the century and there Haraldur and Elín were married. They moved to the Vatnabyggð (Lakes Settlement) in Saskatchewan.
