Eyjólfur and Sigurveig came west with his three children to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1878 and went straight-away to New Iceland. Eyjólfur took land and named it Fagraland in the Víðines Settlement where they lived until 1892. They then moved to the Argyle Settlement and lived near Belmont for two years. He then moved north to the town of Hóla in 1894 and lived there the rest of his years.
