Aðalbjörg was the daughter of Eiríkur Björnsson and Aðalbjörg Jónsdóttir in Vopnafjörður. She came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1902, but her parents and brothers moved there earlier. She lived there the rest of her life, worked on dressmaking, and took an active part in the social activities of Icelanders in the city.
