Benedikt Kristjánsson was born at Kasthvammur in Laxárdal in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on February 28, 1881. He died in Akureyri on November 11, 1969.
Unmarried and childless.
He came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1902, and returned to Iceland in 1906, mostly for the purpose of encouraging his parents to move west. He accompanied them and his siblings west in 1907 and followed them west to the Pacific Ocean. He lived there with his family in Blaine and later in Seattle. His parents went south to San Francisco and it is clear that Benedikt went with them because his letters home to Iceland are sent from there. He visited Iceland in 1949 but returned west. He moved back to Iceland shortly before his death.
