Þuríður Hólmfríður Jónsdóttir was born on May 10, 1865 in S. Þingeyjarsýsla. She died in Manitoba on August 19, 1921.

Jón came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1905 with his son Klemens. Þuríður had emigrated there the year before with Aðalbjörn and Valdimar. She was the sister of Helga, the wife of Stefán Jónsson, a settler in the Argyle Settlement. They lived for the first six years in the Argyle Settlement and then in various places in the district until 1915. Then the family settled in Silver Bay, which in previous years was called Dog Long Bay.
