Ólafur and Guðrún came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1893. They settled in the Argyle Settlement, but in 1898, they moved to Big Point where Guðrún died. It is uncertain when Svava came west but her mother, Sigríður Jónsdóttir, came with her and died in Big Point built on February 7, 1911.
