Björn took land in Silver Bay and his brother, Benedikt, took land in Moose Horn Bay. Sigurgeir Pétursson, Kristjana’s father, lived in Siglunes.

Björn Þorláksson was born in S. Þingeyjarsýsla on October 20, 1884.

Björn came west to Winnipeg in 1893 with his parents, Þorlákur Jónasson and Kristrún Pétursdóttir. He lived with them in the Argyle Settlement until 1908 when he moved north to Silver Bay and bought land there. Kristjana came west with her father, Sigurgeir Pétursson, and María Jónsdóttir, his wife, the same year and on the same ship.
