Ingimundur came west across the sea to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1888 and lived the first year in the Þingvalla community in Saskatchewan. He moved to Big Point, Manitoba in 1894 and at that time married Katrín. She was the daughter of Tómas Ingimundason from Árnessýsla. Ingimundur started farming on his land at Big Point and worked there until 1912. He moved to Langruth in 1912 but that year, Katrín died. Ingimundur moved to Reykjavík east of Lake Manitoba in 1916.
