Jóhanna Guðfinna Jónasdóttir was born in Icelandic River (Íslendingafljót) in New Iceland on January 15, 1885. She died in the Geysir Settlement on November 5, 1959.
Spouse: November 10, 1905 Þorsteinn Jósef Guttormsson b. in N. Múlasýsla on May 16, 1871, d. November 8, 1947 in the Geysir Settlement.
Children: 1. Jónas Guttormur 2. Lilja María b. June 28, 1908 3. Stefán Valdimar b. January 5, 1912, d. September 22, 1987 4. Baldur Franklin b. October 20, 1916.
Jóhanna’s parents, Jónas Þorsteinsson and Lilja Friðfinnsdóttir, emigrated west to Manitoba in 1883. They had to put Jóhanna, three years old, in foster care with Jóhann Jóhannsson in Steinnes in New Iceland and his wife Guðfinna. Jóhanna lived there until the confirmation, then went back to her parents. She and Þorsteinn started farming in the Geysir Settlement, on land called Ólafsdalur, but moved from there to another farm, and later to Brekka in the Geysir Settlement where they lived from 1919 until 1947.
