Elísabet Hallgrímsdóttir was born in N. Múlasýsla in 1856.
Spouse: Jón Valdimar Jónsson b. 1853 in N. Múlasýsla, d. 1893.
Children: 1. Guðrún Halldóra b. June 24, 1892. Málfríður b. 1877 and Jórunn b. 1881 were Jón’s daughters with his first wife, Halldóra Jónsdóttir, who died in 1882.
They came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1887 and lived there two years. With them were Jón’s mother, Jórunn Jónsdóttir, and housekeeper, Kristbjörg Jónsdóttir. Their road took them to the Álftavatn Settlement in Manitoba in 1889 where they lived for four years and where Jón died. Elísabet moved with her family to Minnesota in 1893 and lived in Minneota until 1906. Then she moved with her daughter Guðrún Halldóra to Winnipeg where they lived for two years. She bought land in the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskatchewan in 1908 and moved there a year later. She lived her last years with Guðrún Halldóra and her husband, Páll Bjarnason in Wynyard.
