Sigurður Sigurðsson was born on August 18, 1841 in Mýrasýsla. He died in Lundar on May 9, 1929.
Spouse: Bergþóra Bergþórsdóttir b. April 26, 1841, d. August 16, 1903.
Children: 1. Þórður b. July 6, 1880, d. April 5, 1950 2. Sigurður Ingimundur b. October 2, 1882 3. Gróa b. March 15, 1884 4. Ragnheiður b. December 20, 1885. Bergþóra was the widow of Þórður Guðmundsson and had five children with him: 1. Bergþór b. 1866 2. Kristín b. 1867 3. Jóhanna Ingibjörg b. 1869 4. Oddfríður Þuríður b. 1870 5. Valgerður b. 1872.
Sigurður and Bergþóra emigrated west across the sea to Winnipeg in 1887 and traveled from there to New Iceland. Coming west with them were Sigurður Ingimundur, Gróa, Ragnheiður, Bergþór, and Oddfríður. The other children came west later. Sigurður moved up to Mikley and built a house he called Brekka. They had to leave there in 1903 and settled in Lundar. There he built another house which was also named Brekka.
