Bergþóra Kristín Bergþórsdóttir was born on April 26, 1941 in Mýrasýsla. She died on August 16, 1903 in Manitoba.

Bergþóra was the widow of Þórður Guðmundsson and had five children with him: 1. Bergþór b. 1866 2. Kristín b. 1867 3. Jóhanna Ingibjörg b. 1869 4. Oddfríður Þuríður b. 1870 5. Valgerður b. 1872.
Sigurður and Bergþóra came west to Winnipeg in 1887 and travelled to New Iceland. Coming west with them were Sigurður Ingimundur, Gróa, Ragnheiður, Bergþór, and Oddfríður. The other children came west later. Sigurður moved up to Mikley and built a house there called Brekka. They had to move from there in 1903 and settled in Lundar. There he built another house he also called Brekka.
