Kristín Þorkelsdóttir was born in Eyjafjarðarsýsla in 1861.
Unmarried and childless.
She was the daughter of Þorkell Ingimundarson, an early settler in Lyon county near Minneota in 1878 and Sigríður Guðmundsdóttir; they had come west across the ocean in 1876. Kristín came west in 1880 and first lived in the Icelandic settlement in Minnesota and later moved to Watertown in Codington County, S. Dakota where her brother Hallgrímur lived. Kristín was a well-written woman and sent articles to Winnipeg that were published in the Lögberg newspaper.
