Júlía’s parents, Runólfur Jónsson and Margrét Bjarnadóttir, came west to Minnesota in 1877 and settled in Yellow Medicine County. She grew up there, but then moved to Lyon County with her husband and that is where the children were born. They moved to Minneapolis where Júlía lived for over 30 years.
