Sigurjóna came west in 1880 with her parents, Eyjólfur Guðmundsson and Kristín Björnsdóttir. Ólafur came west to Minnesota in 1889 with his parents, Jón Rafnsson and Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir. They settled in Lyon County and there Ólafur became a farmer.
