Anna and Þorleifur came west on the same ship in 1876 from Seyðisfjörður. They moved to New Iceland the same year and and were there until the colony was reopened after the smallpox epidemic of 1876-77. They then settled in Winnipeg, where Thorleifur was a home builder.
