Vigfús and Guðríður came west to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1883. They lived there for a while before moving to Shellmouth, Saskatchewan and to the Þingvalla Settlement in 1886. In 1894, they moved to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba and then to Big Point. In 1898, their path led them to Big Grass, Manitoba where they lived for a number of years. They next moved to the settlement of Beaver south of Westbourne where they lived for several years. They moved from there to Lundar, but continued to farm their land in Beaver.
