Júlíus Bjarnason was born in the Ljósavatn County Settlement in Shawano, Wisconsin on July 31, 1876.
Spouse: Sigurjóna Helga Sigurðardóttir b. in S. Þingeyjarsýsla in 1873.

Júlíus grew up in the home of his parents, Bjarni Bjarnason and Gróa Jónsdóttir, in Wisconsin and later in Mountain, N. Dakota. He moved in 1900 to Pipestone, Minnesota and then to the Lakes Settlement (Vatnabyggð) in Saskactchewan in 1911. Sigurjóna Helga came west across the sea in 1893.
