Sigríður Brynjólfsdóttir was born on January 16, 1871 in Húnavatnssýsla. She died on October 7, 1918 in N. Dakota.

Sigríður came west to Ontario, Canada in 1874 with her parents, Brynjólfur Brynjólfsson and Þórunn Ólafsdóttir. They settled in Markland, Nova Scotia in 1875 and moved from there to Duluth, Minnesota in 1881 and lastly to N. Dakota in 1882. Kristján came west in 1876 with his parents, Indriður Sigurðsson and Sigurbjörg Kristjánsdóttir, who settled in New Iceland in Manitoba. He moved south with them to Mountain, N. Dakota before 1880 and farmed in the area the rest of his life.
