Guðrún was the daughter of Davíð Bjarnason and Þórdís Jónsdóttir. She and Kristján came west to Winnipeg in 1886 and were married there. They moved south to N. Dakota and lived there until the spring of 1888 when they moved east to Duluth. Kristján got work at the Forest Hill Cemetery and it was his workplace for many years.
